What is Microneedling?

As early as our twenties, the rate of collagen production in our skin decreases. The rate of renewal/replacement steadily declines through each subsequent decade. It is associated with age-related changes seen in the skin, such as fine lines, wrinkles, decreased skin elasticity, sagging skin, jowls, and uneven skin tone. While we can’t turn back the clock on aging, regenerative methods stimulate new collagen production to combat these changes. Microneedling is a form of collagen induction therapy that creates microscopic channels within the skin down to the layer of living tissue or dermis. These “micro-injuries” stimulate the body to recruit the body’s natural healing process to the site of injury to replace damaged tissue, thus stimulating new collagen production. Skin thickness varies on different body parts, and obtaining accurate microneedling depth is essential to successful treatment. Precision is key to achieving the best results without causing unwanted scarring or damage to the skin.

What is the Rejuvapen NXT Device?

The Rejuvapen® NXT Device is the FDA-cleared microneedling medical device in aesthetics for reducing wrinkles and improving skin rejuvenation in the eye and face. It is available through medical professionals only. It has adjustable depths and speeds that allow a medical professional to treat a variety of skin concerns, ranging from fine lines to the delicate skin around the eyes to treating thickened scars with accurate precision. Treatments are performed with sterile, disposable treatment tips.

What is PRP/PRF?

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is an advanced form of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP). Both use concentrated growth factors derived from your own blood to accelerate the healing/regenerative process. At My Aesthetic Studio, we use PRF combined with the Rejuvapen® NXT Device to create controlled micro-injuries to the treatment area and deliver your own concentrated growth factors to the precise target site to stimulate collagen production. We use the same FDA-cleared medical equipment that is used in orthopedic, dental, and plastic surgery to create PRF.

How will this combined treatment help my skin?

Microneedling combined with PRF is a regenerative repair process that creates new dermal growth. It treats fine lines, wrinkles, thinning/sagging skin, jowling, deep lines, skin texture, and tone.

How often are treatments performed?

Treatments are recommended every 4-6 weeks for an average of three treatments.

Is there any downtime?

Moderate redness and minor swelling, similar to that of sunburn or windburn, are typically experienced following treatment and subside over 24 hours. We recommend avoiding sun exposure as much as possible immediately following treatment.
